Professional Goals and Philosophies

Professional Goals:

  1. I would like to learn more about the varied pedagogical approaches to teaching
  2. I will become a lifelong learner.
  3. I will continuously adapt my teaching to reflect my students' abilities, changes in society, and changes in curriculum by reviewing their learning and evaluating my own teaching.
  4. I will be knowledgeable about student development in literacy and math by becoming proficient at the information I present.
  5. I would like to further understand how the roles of Technology Educator and Media Specialist fit in to the education of students in literacy, math and other core subjects.
  6. I want to further my knowledge of technology and learn more ways of how to integrate it into my teaching.
  7. I want to further my knowledge about the school's role in the community and how it affects the community.

After earning my bachelors in Technology Education I plan on pursuing my Masters degree.

My Educational Philosophy
I expect that that students will be responsible for their work and their behavior. Students feel safe in their classroom. They know that it is okay to learn and grow as well as make mistakes.

My students:
In my classroom every student is equal and has the same opportunity to learn. I see students not as they were in the past, but who they can be in the future. Every student has access to the same high quality education.

Respect is the number one rule in my classroom. The other classroom rules reflect respect for the teacher, other students, school property and more. Students are respectful and should expect to be treated with the same level of respect. My students are active learners.

My classroom:
The climate of my classroom would facilitate learning.  I would cover the walls in my classroom with posters, student work, and vocabulary words.  The walls, shelves and all around would reflect what the students are currently learning.  Immersion is one condition of learning.  Students would be free to dialogue with other students about their work and move around the room to use classroom resources.  Students will be active learners.
